We focus on the built side of landscaping: retaining walls and driveways, along with the excavation work that makes both possible. Homeowners are increasingly treating their yards as extensions of the home, built for relaxing and entertaining rather than another chore list, and a well-built retaining wall or driveway does more for that goal than a flower bed ever will. Done right, hardscaping also adds resale value, since buyers notice a level yard and a driveway that has held up over the winters far more than they notice specific plants.
A retaining wall only works if what’s behind it stays put, which is why we treat every wall as an engineering project first and a landscaping feature second. We build with Allan Block, Valley Stone, Lock Block, pressure-treated wood, and natural boulders, choosing the material based on the height of the wall and the soil behind it, along with the finished look you’re after. Taller walls or ones near a structure typically need engineering and permitting before the first block goes in, and we handle that process in-house rather than sending you off to find your own engineer. When a permit also calls for surveying, we take care of that too, so the whole project stays under one roof.
Concrete, asphalt, and gravel each solve a different problem, and we install all three depending on your budget and how the driveway will be used, with your timeline factored into that choice as well. Each option comes with its own trade-offs: concrete holds up longest and gives the cleanest finish, asphalt costs less upfront while handling freeze-thaw cycles reasonably well, and gravel installs fastest and repairs easily if it ever shifts. We grade and compact the base properly before any surface goes down, since problems with a driveway almost always start in the base long before they show up on the surface. Whichever option you choose, our flat-rate quote covers the whole job, so there’s no surprise invoice waiting once the last truck leaves.
Every hardscaping project starts with grading, and getting it wrong is the fastest way to end up with water pooling against a foundation or sitting in a driveway years down the road. We assess drainage before we touch a shovel, directing water away from structures as we grade. Utility locates get confirmed before any digging begins, every single time, no exceptions. Once the hardscaping or excavation work is finished, we clear the site of excess material and debris ourselves because a finished job in our books means the yard looks better than it did before we arrived.
